Fly Ash

A byproduct of burning finely powdered coal in a boiler to create electricity is called fly ash. Fly ash is a finely ground powdered substance that is primarily made of silica. The majority of particles have a spherical form. a siliceous substance that at room temperature reacts with calcium hydroxide in the presence of water to create cementitious compounds.
Fly ash can be utilized as a pozzolan. Fly ash has several advantages when added properly. including improved strength, increased durability and decreased permeability. Fly ash is especially helpful in high-performance concrete applications that call for extremely durable concrete due to severe exposure conditions or high compressive strengths.
In fly ash the main chemical components are SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, and rarely CaO. The color of fly ash can range from grey to dark grey.
