FLY ASH IS A LOW-CALCIUM, SILICEOUS/ALUMINOUS POZZOLAN DERIVED FROM THE COMBUSTION OF BITUMINOUS AND ANTHRACITE COALS. ITS FINE, SPHERICAL PARTICLES ENHANCE WORKABILITY AND REACT WITH CALCIUM HYDROXIDE IN THE PRESENCE OF WATER TO FORM ADDITIONAL CEMENTITIOUS COMPOUNDS, RESULTING IN DENSER, MORE DURABLE CONCRETE WITH REDUCED PERMEABILITY.
